Ferdi Kadioglu scored inside three minutes. Chelsea had barely touched the ball.
That was the night summed up. What followed was 87 more minutes of the same — Brighton comfortable, Chelsea nowhere. By stoppage time the away end had stopped watching the football. They were chanting for Liam Rosenior to be sacked. He walked over at the final whistle and apologised. The silence he got back was worse than the chanting.

Danny Welbeck finished it off in stoppage time. De Cuyper laid the ball across, Welbeck fired into the left post. He looked absolutely delighted. You would.
Chelsea Are Broken
Cole Palmer was injured. So was Estêvão. So was João Pedro. Those absences matter. They do not explain everything.
Garnacho came on and barely touched the ball. Enzo Fernandez shrugged his shoulders at the travelling fans late on. They had seen enough. The away end started chanting for the manager to go while the game was still being played.
Rosenior spoke after the final whistle and did not hide from it. “That was unacceptable in every aspect. I keep coming out defending the players — that was indefensible. Something has to change drastically right here, right now.” That is a manager who knows the clock is ticking.
Zero shots on target. Three games in a row beaten at the Amex. £262 million spent on players who were either absent or poor. Champions League qualification is finished. Chelsea are seven points off fifth-placed Liverpool with a game more played.
Brighton Are the Real Story
While Chelsea implode, Brighton keep winning. Nineteen points from the last 24 available. That is genuine top-four form, not a run of soft fixtures — it has been earned.
Jack Hinshelwood was outstanding. A goal, a dominant midfield shift, and the kind of energy that makes him one of the best young players in the division right now. Kadioglu was equally sharp. The entire starting eleven rated seven or above according to Sky Sports ratings — that does not happen by accident.
Brighton move above Chelsea into sixth. Four games left. The European places are theirs to lose.
