BP Never Really in It From the Start
Brommapojkarna simply didn’t have an answer at Gamla Ullevi. GAIS broke the deadlock just over twenty minutes in through Rasmus Niklasson Petrovic, and about ten minutes after that, Frosti Thorkelsson took the ball down, turned, and drilled it in at the far post to make it 2-0. GAIS went into the break with that two-goal cushion firmly in hand, and the game already had the feel of one slipping away fast for the visitors.
Salter and Andersson Add to the Damage
GAIS didn’t ease off after halftime either. The home side added two more in the second half, Samuel Salter and Max Andersson both getting on the scoresheet to turn a comfortable lead into a genuinely emphatic 4-0 win. Captain August Wängberg summed up the mood afterward, telling TV4 it felt good, that it was a strong overall effort and satisfying to see the team rewarded for it.
For Brommapojkarna, there was little to salvage from the afternoon. Captain Simon Strand didn’t dress it up in his own interview, admitting straight out that the team is underperforming right now — a blunt assessment that matched exactly what had unfolded on the pitch.
What It Means Next
The result flips the two sides’ positions in the table, GAIS climbing above Brommapojkarna as a direct consequence of the win. It’s exactly the kind of response GAIS needed after criticism had been mounting around the club, and a full ninety minutes of control from start to finish will do plenty for confidence heading into the next round. For Brommapojkarna, it’s back to the drawing board after an afternoon that never got going, with Strand’s post-match honesty suggesting the players themselves know changes are needed.
