Levski Sofia 4-0 Borac Banja Luka: Reinaldo double sends Bulgarians through in style

Levski Sofia vs Borac Banja Luka

Levski Sofia didn’t leave anything to chance on Tuesday. After drawing the first leg, they came out and put four goals past Borac Banja Luka at the Georgi Asparuhov Stadium, and honestly, by the end it wasn’t even close. Reinaldo scored twice, Oko-Flex opened the scoring, and Juan Perea added a fourth late on. 5-1 on aggregate, job done.

Hard to say who’d have called the tie after the first leg in Bosnia. Borac led early through a Juricic penalty, but Oko-Flex came off the bench and dragged Levski level, so this second leg was properly up for grabs. First half in Sofia was tight, honestly a bit dull — neither side really broke through. Then the second half started and everything changed.

Three minutes in, Reinaldo pressed a Borac midfielder into a bad touch right in their own box. Ball fell loose. Oko-Flex didn’t need a second invitation, slotted it low past the keeper. 1-0, and just like that the whole tie tilted Levski’s way. They kept going too — fourteen minutes into the half, Everton Bala broke on the counter, found Reinaldo in space, and the Brazilian buried it. 2-0. Then six minutes later, same guy again — dribbled straight past a defender at the edge of the box and dinked it over the keeper for 3-0. Two goals in six minutes. Game over, really, at that point.

Borac just couldn’t cope after that. Levski had all the ball, all the territory, and Borac started collecting yellow cards out of pure frustration more than anything else. Ogrinec and Vukovic both went into the book late on. And there was still one more goal in it — sub Juan Perea, who’d only just come on for Reinaldo, made it 4-0 in the 85th minute. Emphatic doesn’t really cover it.

Big result for Levski, who now move into round two of Champions League qualifying and wait to find out if they get Vitebsk or Craiova next. Rough way for Borac’s European summer to end, though — they led this tie at one point and now they’re off to the Conference League instead. UEFA’s own write-up makes it pretty clear how one-sided that second half really was.
