First Game, Three Goals
Talk about an entrance. Zota Silva scored all three Olympiacos goals in a 3-1 friendly win over Fortuna Sittard on Friday. First game in the shirt. Hat-trick. Doesn’t get much better than that for a new signing, and it kept the Greek side unbeaten through their third warm-up match in the Netherlands.
Opening minutes were pretty even, nothing much happening. Olympiacos had a half-chance in the 10th when Fotis Koutsidis got up for a header off an André Luiz corner — went wide though. Fortuna had a spell after that, poked around the box a bit, didn’t really trouble anyone.
Then Zota Silva Happened
20th minute, Silva finishes off a move built from headers by Masouras and Koutsidis. 1-0. Four minutes later he does it again, 2-0, and now it’s his night. Olympiacos are in control at this point, pressing high, moving the ball well, Fortuna just trying to hang on and find their feet in a pre-season game that got away from them fast.
Credit to Fortuna, they got one back — Oukili in the 56th, 2-1, gave their fans something. Two minutes later that hope was gone. Penalty to Olympiacos, Silva grabs the ball himself, slots it, hat-trick complete, 3-1. Game more or less over from there, even with a late chance for Bakoulas off a Kelson Martins cross that the keeper dealt with fine.
What’s Next
Good night’s work, and a serious first impression from the new guy. Tzolakis was in the squad, stayed on the bench the whole game. Olympiacos play Ajax next, Saturday. Fortuna go back to their own prep, with PSV waiting for them to open the Eredivisie season next month.
