Allsvenskan | Round 11 | Monday, 6 July 2026 Bravida Arena, Gothenburg, Sweden
Häcken’s unbeaten run is over. Five wins and five draws from ten Allsvenskan matches — an impressive start, second in the table, genuinely pushing for a title challenge nobody expected from a side that finished tenth last season. Then Djurgården came to Gothenburg and scored four goals and it all came apart in 90 minutes.
The final score was 4-2 to Djurgården. The result confirmed what the head-to-head record had been saying for years — Djurgården have won six of the last ten meetings between these sides and have not lost to Häcken in five consecutive matches. The most recent meeting, played just under a year ago, ended 6-1 to Djurgården away from home. That kind of precedent hangs over any fixture.
Djurgården got the first goal inside four minutes. Oskar Fallenius — whose previous Allsvenskan involvement had been largely from the bench — drove onto the ball in the opening exchanges and finished. The Gothenburg crowd, expecting something quite different from their unbeaten home side, went quiet almost immediately.
Häcken responded. The hosts had Gustav Lindgren leading the line, already the Allsvenskan’s top scorer with five goals coming into the match. Their build-up play went through the midfield combination of Doumbia and Rygaard, with Adrian Svanbäck supplying from wide areas. Julius Lindberg got the equaliser in the 29th minute — a goal that brought the home crowd back in and suggested Häcken could impose themselves. Their composure in possession, their technical quality in the tight areas around the penalty box — it had been their calling card all season.
Then Djurgården again before half-time. Kristian Strömland Lien — the Norwegian forward who had scored three times in his last five Allsvenskan games coming in — got his first of the evening in the 41st minute. Häcken were behind again at the break. Two-one to the visitors. The lead that Djurgården had built in the first minute was restored.
The second half started with Häcken pushing. Substitutions arrived. The home side brought on Dahbo and eventually Sadiku to try to find their way back into the match. Sadiku did pull one back — the Belgian forward converting in the 83rd minute to make it 2-2. Suddenly the atmosphere changed again. Häcken had a chance to save their unbeaten record and rescue something from an afternoon that had been threatening to unravel.
Three minutes later, Žugelj scored. The Slovenian striker — on as a substitute — struck in the 86th minute to put Djurgården back in front at three-two. Whatever momentum Häcken had found after the 83rd-minute equaliser was immediately extinguished.
Marqués added the fourth in the 90th minute plus two. Another substitute with an immediate impact. Djurgården’s bench had changed the match. Häcken’s had tried and fallen short. Four-two. Final score. Unbeaten run ended.
For Djurgården, the win was not straightforward — they had been behind twice and trailed until the 41st minute before taking a half-time lead for the first time in the match. But winning games when you have been made to fight for it is the mark of a quality squad. Lien’s contribution — a goal and instrumental in the second goal of his brace — was the individual story of the match. He has developed into one of the more reliable strikers in the division this season.
The result leaves Häcken second on 20 points with a record now reading five wins, five draws and one defeat. Djurgården climb with 16 points. Sirius lead the Allsvenskan on 22 points — the gap between them and the chasing pack narrowed slightly by the results of this round.
Ben Engdahl was absent for Häcken through his season-ending injury, and Etrit Berisha remained sidelined with his back problem. Those absences had limited options across the backline for Jens Gustafsson throughout the match.
